Out and About

This week the fur-kids have had a fun-willed week. On Saturday we went to Petsmart. This is ALWAYS fun for all including for the owners! Keep in mind, handling 3 excited dogs is no small task. We tried to put Edgar in the buggy, but he didn’t like being separated from Ruekie. They are joined at the hip! (Or at least Edgar thinks they should be) Everyone loved Edgar, I don’t see who couldn’t. One of the employees said Ruekie looked just like her dog and had pictures to prove it (a true dog lover!). Their ears and body were similar, but that’s all I could see. Overall it was a fun day

Last night we W-A-L-K-E-D down to Sonic, oops I forgot they can’t hear me type. If they could they’d be in frenzy over the W word. The five-foot long blood sucking mesquites were out, but at least it was cool. The kids only half way scared the heck out of our waitress so that’s goodJ.

These outings were also part of Edgar’s puppy school. The mission statement of the school is to “Equip young dogs with the knowledge they need to be well adjusted through stimulating activities”. I bet he didn’t even know he was in school. I just wish my school was like that!

Puppy Training School

Ruekie and Pilot have decided to teach Edgar everything he needs to know about being a dog. This is a large task to take on, but they feel that it is the only way to make sure that grows into a well adjusted German Shepherd. Ruekie will handle the breed specific classes. He and Pilot will joint teach the others. Here are some of the classes Edgar will be taking. Who will teach is highlited in green.

R= Ruekie  P= Pilot

Introduction to Grooming- How to look good in mud (R&P)
More than just sit- Learn tricks to impress you owners and get more treats (R)
Healthy Lifestyles- How many dog biscuits is too many? (R&P)
Gym- Condition your self to never run out of energy by running laps, and chasing squirells (R&P)
Tail Wagging 101- Finding your inner rhythm (P)
Swimming- Mastering entry into the pool and the doggy paddle (P)

As you can see, they have a pretty busy schedule. So we better stop typing and start teaching!

It's a Party!!

Today we celebrated Edgar's 3 month birthday. Well, Reukie and Pilot really just wanted a reason to eat cake, but don't tell Edgar that! The birthday boy, Reukie, and Pilot enjoyed a homemade banana, cinnamon, peanut butter, chicken cake with banana cream cheese icing. They really enjoyed it and compliments to the chef were given in the form of kisses. They're such polite boys! Party favors were customized placemats and everyone got a chance to wear the party hat. Fun was had by all (including the hosts!).

A Day in the Life of Edgar and Reukie

Monday, May 19, 2008

4:40 a.m.- First potty break of the day. No more kennel! Edgar is quite a heavy little guy to carry outside!
5:30 a.m.- Breakfast. Edgar eats and Reukie decide to wait.
7:00 a.m.- Playtime outside! Edgar whines when Reukie and Pilot play big dog play and he gets left out. But then Reukie goes and makes him feel better. How sweet!
8:00 a.m.- Some outside time before Mary starts school. All the dogs decide to run laps around the trampoline.
8:50 a.m.- Reukie sounds the alarm; it's a code brown. Squirrel attack!!
9:30 a.m.- Reukie decides to eat breakfast
10:15 a.m.- Playtime outside. Ruekie and Pilot chase each other while Edgar ambles along behind looking a little confused, but happy to be running.
10:27 a.m.- Back inside for a drink. Running makes them thirsty! Speaking of drinking, we think their band should be called The Dribblers instead of the blue dog group.
12:09 p.m.- Reukie goes BAZERK over a squirrel. He scratched at the window, charged out the door and sprinted down the fence. He really loves them!
1:45 p.m.- Puppy nap time. Everyone sleeps.
3:30 p.m.- Everyone goes for a swim including Edgar! He accidentally fell in, but was quickly saved by his heroine in jeans (Mary)
4:00 p.m.- More laps and running… I hope there tired!
6:00 p.m.- Dinner! Edgar devours his food while Reukie just takes a few bites.
7:52 p.m.- Dogs are sleeping like rocks at my feet. They played hard today!
9:00 p.m.- Kennel up! It’s bedtime.
